In September of 2005, Donald Trump arrived on the set of “Days of Our Lives” in order to prepare for a cameo appearance. While still inside the bus on the studio back lot, Trump described to Billy Bush (then working for “Access Hollywood”) an attempt to have sex with an unnamed married woman after taking her furniture shopping.
I did try to fuck her. She was married… I moved on her like a bitch, but I couldn’t get there, and she was married.
After seeing actress Arianne Zucker through the bus window, Trump then commented:
I’ve got to use some Tic Tacs, just in case I start kissing her. You know I’m automatically attracted to beautiful — I just start kissing them. It’s like a magnet. Just kiss. I don’t even wait. And when you’re a star, they let you do it. You can do anything. Grab them by the pussy. You can do anything.
I am sickened by what I heard today. Women are to be championed and revered, not objectified. I hope Mr. Trump treats this situation with the seriousness it deserves and works to demonstrate to the country that he has greater respect for women than this clip suggests. In the meantime, he is no longer attending tomorrow’s event in Wisconsin.
These comments are repugnant, and unacceptable in any circumstance. As the father of three daughters, I strongly believe that Trump needs to apologize directly to women and girls everywhere, and take full responsibility for the utter lack of respect for women shown in his comments on that tape.
No woman should ever be described in these terms or talked about in this manner. Ever.
In October of 2016, CNN published a list of eleven separate allegations of sexual misconduct by Donald Trump. Trump claimed that all of the allegations against him were false, and at a rally in Greensboro, North Carolina, implied that Jessica Leeds was not attractive enough for him to “go after.”
Yeah, I’m gonna go after her. Believe me, she would not be my first choice. That I can tell you. You don’t know. That would not be my first choice.
After the 2005 “Access Hollywood” recording was leaked, Billy Bush, the cousin of George W. Bush, was fired from the “Today” show. Donald Trump went on to win the Republican primary, and then to be elected President of the United States.
On October 19, 2016, Trump provoked laughter during the third presidential debate when he stated:
Nobody has more respect for women than I do. Nobody.
